Anybody love Hexies?

I know there are a lot of people who love to do Hexies.  I've done some, am doing some, will probably continue to do some in projects and there were, of course, hexies at the Quilt Festival.  According to the commemorative program, It was a Hexagon Revolution which was sponsored by Paper Pieces.  Paper Pieces, if I remember right, used to be in the DeKalb/Sycamore area which is where I live.  Did you also know that paper piecing dates back to the 1700s? If you think about it, that makes total sense.  Women would use their left over scraps of fabric whenever and wherever they could.  Waste not (or should I say knot) want not.  Today people can buy the paper forms from businesses' like Paper Pieces.  The quilts in The Hexagon Revolution are based on the book by Katja Marek, The New Hexagon:  52 blocks to English Paper Piece and/or The New Hexagon Millefiore Quilt-Along.  This exhibit also made its Festival debut in Chicago.

Enough about talking about hexies.  I'm sure you want to see some hexies.  I can't remember if these were in the Hexagon Revolution or just because people loved hexies.

Busy but beautiful

Loved how "uncluttered" this looked

Boggled my mind when I saw how small those hexies were!

I found some more pictures from the Fly Me To The Moon so am adding them into the mix today.  I'm not sure I'd have the patience to try to figure out skin tones and such.  These artists, for that is truly what they are, are certainly talented.

But, since I work for a University, I thought perhaps you'd like to see something more colorful.  So sit back

and feast your eyes on this colorful quilt.  :)     One of the helpers held the quilt so I could get the picture of both the front and back on it.

If that doesn't make you smile, then go back to work.  I, on the other hand, did smile but still have to go back to work.  Another day another dime.   Dimes will eventually add up to dollars so that will give me time to finish up a project before getting the urge to go and spend again.  That's a working theory of course.  All crafters know that our urges never completely go away.

Stay tuned for more pictures this week.

I hope everybody has a great day!

What to work on Next

I finished the owl and it will be sent off to my friend Susan as soon as I get my stamps.  I had forgotten to get some for the season so...
